Who doesn’t know this 27 year old professional ice hockey player? Ryan Getzlaf is currently the captain and center of the Anaheim Ducks of the NHL or National Hockey League. Some might be curious how a Canadian decent who just loves to skate at an early age like him became a pro in this sport. Blougin is proud to feature a profiler for this NHL hottie.
Well, he was born and raised in Regina, Canada. At an early age of four, he started skating and playing sport with the mentorship of his very own brother Chris who is in present times, a slotback for the Saskatchewan Roughriders of the Canadian Football Leauge or (CFL). Being a Canadian, I bet he speaks Spanish because majority of the Canadians are bilingual. Spanish, along with Canadian English, French and Portuguese are widely used and spoken or being taught in the academe. I wonder if he also loves playing partypoker, as Hispanic people love playing in Casinos and his place of origin are dominated by Hispanics. In fact, in Spain, poker is part of their gaming culture according to world casino directory. Its thirty cities have 33 Casino facilities that operate a lot of games like Poker.
Ryan's early influences with his brother made him realize that he loves hockey. It involves a lot of hard work in order to get where he is, like in poker or any other game like basketball or soccer. As a young athlete, he focused on Hockey but he also joined organized team playing football, volleyball and baseball. No wonder why he acquired all the skills of the different ballgames. As a catcher in baseball games, he earned several MVP titles way back in 1998 representing Saskatchewan.
Because of his pure dedication to the game he was drafted into the WHL or Western Hockey Leauge by the Calgary Hitmen. Following a success and improved points in his rookie season with the Hitmen, he was then drafted by the Anaheim Mighty Ducks in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. This marked the beginning of his professional career. His debut with the Ducks appearing in 57 games and scoring 39 points, drive the entire team all the way to the Western Conference Finals.
In year 2006, he helped the Ducks to the 2007 Stanley Cup Finals by scoring 58 points, beating the Ottawa Senators. Following that victorious year, Getzlaf was offered a five year contract extension with the Ducks that will last through the 2012-2013 season. To everybody’s amazement, Getzlaf earned a career score of 82 points. This is his first NHL All Star Game. He was also hailed as a starter to the 2009 NHL All-Star Game in Montreal.
Sorry to break your heart fanatics of Ryan Getzlaf. Yes, he is already married. His wife’s name is Paige. Paige is a good influence on Ryan. In fact when he is not playing hockey, they take an active role in supporting TACA or Talk About Curing Autism. The couple already has two children.
